Milky Way

During my trip to Colorado we visited an area far west of Colorado Springs. We got far enough out that the light pollution was all but gone, and with clear, dry skies the weather was nearly perfect for stargazing. The only downside was the sub-freezing temperature that made it really tough to stand outside waiting for the camera to take long exposures.

Of note in this photo is the Andromeda Galaxy visible in the top center of the photo. When I was chimping this photo in the freezing air, I excitedly stated "that's the Andromeda Galaxy!", which my sister found to be a hilariously geeky thing to get excited about.
