Metro Regulars

  • March 22, 2007
It's fun to utilize a well-oiled subway system like DC's metro, which significantly outclasses Atlanta's own Marta. Granted, I've always said that Marta has many cards stacked against it (sparse sprawl being the most significant one), but that doesn't change the fact that its performance pales in comparison to the subway systems of denser cities. The metro, on the other hand, was efficient and enjoyable to use ... apart from parking, that is. Since the metro parking lots don't accept cash, we ended up spending $10 to buy a SmartTrip card to pay for the $3.75 parking fee. Lame!

Well the thing you have to remember about MARTA is it's had almost had no support from the Metro area itself, and compared to most efficient subway systems (NYC, DC, SF, etc.), it's also much younger.

they don't improve it because nobody uses it, they don't use it because it isn't improved...and there was the chicken, and the egg.
