Ron and the Symphony People

  • April 24, 2006
Orchestra is still a lot of fun, and we miss the likes of Jen and Smitha as much as they say they miss us. Or, if I'm unable to speak for the rest of us, at least I do.

Unrelated: there are three songs that I can think of, off the top of my head, that are Destroying America:
  • Train - Drops of Jupiter
  • Counting Crows - Big Yellow Taxi ("paved paradise and put up a parking lot ...")
  • Fall Out Boy - Sugar We're Going Down

Let me know if you can think of any others.

No, see, you're thinking of the Counting Crows version of Big Yellow Taxi, which, I agree, is a blight on America...nay, all who hear it regardless of nationality.

I move that 'Photograph' by Nickelback take its place.

You're right - it didn't seem right that it was her. Fixed.

that james blunt song, only because he chose rhyming over the song making any sense at all.

Oh yeah, we could add the Coldplay "rhyme over quality" song: Swallowed in the Sea.

It also violates my rule concerning songs that refer to songwriting, which similarly bans movies that concern moviemaking/acting or plays that are about playwrights. Farces excluded, of course.

I second the Nickelback motion. And I motion for Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Ashley Simpson, and all of those folks as well--because they're what Japanese girls listen to and form their opinions of the US about. So they're Destroying America from outside as well as from within.

You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful. You're beautiful.

That's cool. I can miss orchestra without it missing me...;-)
