Spot the Bee

  • May 6, 2005
Bela and I went for a final tour of campus on Wednesday, photographing anything of interest, so that we could say "see what this looked like?" to the students of the future.

I'm done. I'm done with Tech for the moment, and I'm not really happy about it. There were so many things I wanted to do that I never did. Next week I resume work at OSP as a tech temp, but I hope that there are more dynamic things ahead, such as grad school next Spring. I just have to convince Tech that I'm worth it.

I realized this evening that I'm addicted to data. My PC has 240GB of storage, and another 80GB in an external drive. My digital photos consume 35GB alone, which is being copied to the external drive for backup, as we speak. (I don't want things disappearing when the PC makes the trip home.) Schroeder, my old desktop, sits under my bed holding another 120GB of data, 21GB of which is Asian music videos. Thank goodness I have a DVD burner or I'd need a few more gigantic harddrives to hold everything I've offloaded onto discs. Where my father has trouble throwing out boxes of physical stuff, I realized I'm the same way, just with electronic data. I still have backups of all my previous harddrives, all the way back to my 76MB 386 harddrive. I'm addicted to data.

There are a lot worse things you could be addicted to than data.
